Fixed-scope Kit
Fixed-price work goes wrong when nobody wrote down what “done” means. This is a set of short templates for the whole job: what you will deliver, how everyone will know it is done, what happens when the client asks for more, when you get paid, and what you hand over at the end. They are plain files you fill in and change.

- What you get
- A scope document, a done-when checklist and a change-request form
- Payment terms to paste into a proposal, with options to choose from
- A progress note, handover and final report
- Works with
- MarkdownWord (.docx)Google Docs, Pages, LibreOffice
- Version
- v1.0, updated 2026-10-19
Email for an invoice: $9.99Paid by invoice for now. Files arrive by email once it clears.
How you get it: email me. I send a USD invoice through Wise; when it clears, the files come by email as a zip, within one working day. A hosted checkout may replace the invoice later.
What's inside
- 01-scope-of-work: one page both sides sign off: deliverables, what is not included, what you need from the client, dates, price
- 02-done-when-checklist: one check per deliverable, written so two people reach the same answer
- 03-change-request: a short form for anything outside the scope, with its cost and its effect on dates
- 04-payment-terms: blocks to paste into a proposal, with options to choose from for payment steps, late payment, stopping early and ownership
- 05-handover-and-report: a progress note for while you work and a handover and final report for the end
- A README with the flow and how to fill them in
- Each template as Markdown and as a Word file (.docx), with fill-in spots in [square brackets]
When the work is done, the free Invoice Maker turns the agreed price into an invoice you can download as a PDF.
Who it's for
Solo developers, designers, writers and small agencies who sell work for a fixed price and want a plain, repeatable way to agree on it. Not for large contracts or regulated work without a lawyer.
What it never does
- Give legal advice. I am not a lawyer. The payment and ownership blocks have options to choose from and are not written for any country. Have a lawyer in your country read the final version for a large or risky project
- Set your price, your payment split or your refund policy: you choose
- Cover tax, data protection, insurance or liability
- Protect you from a client who will not pay: it makes the agreement clear
- Tie you to a tool, a platform or an industry
- Contain client names or anything from a real client’s contract
Questions
Do I need Word?
No. Use the Markdown, or open the .docx in a word processor you already have.
Can I put my logo on them?
Yes, edit freely.
Can I use them for clients?
Yes. Use and modify them for your own and your clients’ projects. Don’t resell or republish the kit.
Is it a contract?
No. It is a set of templates you can adapt into one. The parts about payment, late fees, refunds and ownership are options, and the law differs between countries.
What does “done when” mean?
A check for each deliverable that anyone could run and get the same answer, for example “the form sends an email to the chosen address within a minute”.
Will it be updated?
I’ll email fixes to buyers. No schedule is promised.
Why $9.99?
It is a few hours of writing you don’t have to do first. It isn’t a course.
